The metal side of the shop. Welding, machining, and fabrication — the work of turning raw stock and scrap into parts that hold up under load.

What happens here:

  • Welding — MIG and stick for structural work, repairs, and weldments. Brackets, frames, jigs, and the occasional “this broke, make it not broken.”
  • Machining — drilling, cutting, grinding, and fitting to make parts mate the way the drawing says they should.
  • Fabrication — taking a design from sketch or CAD to a finished assembly: measure, cut, fit, weld, finish.

A lot of this is in service of the other rooms — fixtures for the laser, mounts for electronics projects, enclosures for things that live outdoors. Project writeups land here as the work happens.
